Manchester United has not won consecutive games in the Premier League since May 2024. Ruben Amorim, who was appointed in November 2024, recorded his first back-to-back home victory in the Premier League last week. Amorim confesses he does not know what to anticipate from his team.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim confesses he doesn’t know what he’ll get from his players each week.

Amorim’s side will head to Brentford in pursuit of his first Premier League back-to-back victories since taking over in November 2024.

United won consecutive league home games for the first time under Amorim, defeating Chelsea at Old Trafford last weekend after a late triumph over Burnley before the international break.

“That is due to the fact that we have been living in this time for some months. The easiest approach to deal with this is to treat each game as if it were the last. It’s just not thinking about two games.

“Yes, it’s a huge issue for Manchester United. Manchester United’s next game will be their most meaningful in a long time.

“I understand the fans’ feelings. Let’s start changing that feeling and presenting ourselves with the urgency that we require on the pitch.”

Amorim believes his team has performed well this season, but results have not reflected that. However, building on positive starts may be the key to maintaining their momentum.

“I don’t say ‘playing well’ because I think we did that this year,” Amorim told the crowd.

“I think it’s really important [for Manchester United to win back-to-back games], and we discussed it at the end of the game.” It’s critical for us to have the sense of urgency that we need to win no matter what, and it will be extremely difficult.

“Every time we start preparing for the game and look at the next opponent, you think it’s going to be incredibly tough. I had that feeling.

“But, from my perspective, we have no control over the outcome of the game. The most essential thing is to start the game the same way we started against Chelsea, Burnley, and Arsenal.

“In these kinds of games, we need to be willing and to have the feeling that we need to win every match.”
