Following an injury, three Manchester United strikers could step up to take Benjamin Sesko’s spot.

Manchester United dropped two points on Saturday against Tottenham, but more concerningly was the injury list, which has been accumulated from the game.

Ruben Amorim won’t be happy at all over the next fortnight, having watched Manchester United let a lead slip for the second game on the bounce, but there will also be concern over some potential injuries. Both Benjamin Sesko and Harry Maguire left the pitch due to injury, while Casemiro’s withdrawal came due to a hard tackle, which ended the Brazilian’s afternoon. These would be three big absences for United going into the busiest period of the season. So if Sesko is now out, who does the club have to come in and offer goals up front?

Joshua Zirkzee

The most obvious benefactor of Sesko missing time would be Joshua Zirkzee, with the Dutch forward only playing 90 minutes of football in total so far this season.

By default, Zirkzee would be the next one up and would likely get the minutes Sesko usually does from the bench, with Matheus Cunha likely to be the starting number nine.

Zirkzee has been linked with a United exit in January, but this may just be what saves his career at Old Trafford.

Chido Obi

Despite Cunha being the starter, Amorim has previously admitted Zirkzee isn’t a striker, and so there will be a need for a proper striker, and this might mean a first-team comeback for Chido Obi.

Obi has been impressive at U21 level for United, scoring goals but more importantly polishing his all-round game leading the line, which makes him a very dangerous player going forward.

Chido Obi stats 25/26

Since joining, Obi has developed a lot at United and deserves the chance to prove it for the first team, with the current set-up much better than what he played in last season, to no success.
