Jurgen Klopp would certainly be an advocate of Manchester United signing Karim Adeyemi amid new reports linking the Red Devils with signing the attacker. The German international has played for Borussia Dortmund since 2022 but his future is said to be uncertain after a reported breakdown in relationship with boss Niko Kovac.
Adeyemi, 23, has failed to register a goal or assist since late September with just three goals to his name in 14 games across all competitions this season. The forward caught the ire of his manager during Dortmund’s 1-0 win over Koln after throwing a water bottle at the bench when being taken off.
The Dortmund star’s antics resulted in Kovac publicly slamming him with the Croatian saying: “I think that’s unnecessary. It’s okay that he can be angry sometimes, but that’s unnecessary, he’s an adult.”
It was only weeks later that Kovac’s frustration with Adeyemi was shown again after he was left noticeably agitated by his player’s decision making on the pitch. Adeyemi was then substituted off in the 66th minute of the game.
According to BILD, the youngster’s future is now in question with his contract expiring in 2027. It’s Ruben Amorim ‘s side that have emerged as reported suitors for Adeyemi’s services. Should the Red Devils succeed in enticing the German, it would be a move that the ex-Liverpool boss would have made himself during his time at Anfield.
His exploits as a teenager led to much speculation around his future and it was according to BILD that Klopp was “very interested” in signing his compatriot. It was a move that didn’t pan out with Adeyemi signing for Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
“The English clubs as a whole are not only looking for good kickers, but also for players who they can market well and have both feet on the ground.” If United opt to pursue the transfer, they’ll be dealing with familiar faces as Adeyemi’s agent is Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese powerhouse was behind the deals for Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte.
