Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef 80/20 for best flavor and moisture
  • 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix or any dry onion soup mix
  • 2 large eggs lightly beaten
  • ¾ cup plain breadcrumbs
  • ¾ cup water or milk
  • cup ketchup plus extra for glaze
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix the Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Lipton onion soup mix, eggs, breadcrumbs, ketchup, and water (or milk). Add optional Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper if desired. Mix until just combined—do not overwork the meat.

Step 3: Shape the Meatloaf

  • Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared pan and shape it into a loaf, pressing it down gently for even cooking.

Step 4: Add the Glaze

  • Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the loaf to create a sweet and tangy glaze.

Step 5: Bake

  • Place in the oven and bake for 55–65 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 6: Serve

  • Slice and serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or your favorite comfort sides.
